Eichmans Refurbish and Open Chapel Hill Motel at Brevort
Carol Eichman of Saginaw is opening the Chapel Hill Motel on US-2, across from Trinity Lutheran Church in Brevort. The yeararound motel will open Labor Day weekend.
Carol Eichman of Saginaw is opening the Chapel Hill Motel in Brevort with the hope of attracting visitors to the area. The motel, which has 27 rooms and a two-bedroom cottage, will open on Labor Day weekend. It has been closed for a year.
Ms. Eichman and her husband, Roger, have spent the past month updating rooms, and installing new plumbing and flooring at the motel, which first opened in the early 1960s.
Also an owner of more than 50 apartments in the Saginaw area, Ms. Eichman said she looks forward to operating a business up north. She hopes to keep the motel open year-around.
“I love challenges,” she said, adding that owning a motel has always been one of her ambitions.
After looking at several motels in the area, she said was most impressed by Chapel Hill because of its scenic location across from Lake Michigan and its easy access to trails for snowmobilers during the winter.
“You're out of town where you can have a quiet atmosphere,” she said of the location.
Ms. Eichman will be operating the motel with her friend, Daniel Bates, of Saginaw, and son, Paul Brown.
