Melbourne Williams Melbourne Williams Melbourne James Williams, 92, of Cedarville, died Friday, September 3, 2010, at his home.

He was born September 5, 1917, in Marquette Township in Rockview to Robert Wilson Williams and Annie (nee Nettleton) Williams.

Mr. Williams grew up on the family farm on Rockview and, as a young man, worked in farming and logging in Mackinac and Chippewa counties. In 1942, he moved in with his sister and her husband, Annabelle and Ford Izzard, to help on their farm. In 1953, he began working at the Cedarville Limestone Quarry and retired from there in 1980.

Mr. Williams enjoyed listening to old country music. He loved to walk and for many years could often be seen on M-129 north of Cedarville taking his daily walk. In recent years, he looked forward to his nightly games of Farkel with family and friends.

He is survived by 17 nieces and nephews and their families, Dennis Wheeler, Bob and Charlene Williams, Lyle and Kathy Williams, Bob and Jo Izzard, Jackie and Larry Smith, Karen and James Bozung, Rita “Kay” and James De- Witt, Betty Jean and Gerald Elliott, Yvone Marie and Mike Bailey, Norma Jean and Charles Dunbar, Billy Anderson, Joann and Albert Fountain Jr., Marilyn Ames, Carol and Richard Corrion, David and Doris Williams, James and Lori Williams, and Lisa Williams; and numerous great- and great-greatnieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by all of his siblings and their spouses, Marion and Don Powers, Allen and Alfretta Williams, Annabelle and Ford Izzard, Glenn and Louella Williams, Rita “Kay” and Bill Anderson, and Herb and Eunice Williams; and by a niece, Arbutus Brown, and two nephews, Wilson Izzard and Fred Izzard.

Services will be Thursday, September 9, at Reamer Galer Funeral Home in Pickford. A gathering time will begin at 5 p.m., followed by services at 7 p.m.
