Mackinac County Republican Party Elects Convention Delegates

The Mackinac County Republican Party reported a strong attendance when it met for its County Convention Monday, January 10, at the county courthouse in St. Ignace, noting that citizens came from all parts of the county to participate.

Presiding over the conference was the executive committee: Chairman Don Gustafson, Vice- Chair Scott Strait, Secretary Mary Kay Tamlyn, and Treasurer Rob Winkelman. Present were elected county officials, delegates, county citizens, and the Republican Party chair for District 1, Jeff Lamb. The primary order of business was to elect three delegates to represent Mackinac County at the State Convention in Lansing January 28 and January 29. Mackinac County’s delegates going to the State Convention are Jon Gonyon of Portage Township, John Shoberg of Clark Township, and Thom Hadfield of Mackinac Island.

At a business meeting directly following the statutory convention, seven citizens were made delegates and added to the representative leadership of the county chapter: Rob Burger, Loren Dingman, Joe Forrester, Linda Hudson, Mike Patrick, and John Shoberg, all of Clark Township, and Thom Hadfield of Mackinac Island.

Don Gustafson appointed a small committee to begin planning for a Reagan Day dinner to take place this spring.
