Chief Wawatam Deserves A Memorial

To the Editor:

This letter should be edged in black because I’m in mourning for the loss of the Chief Wawatam’s elevator.

It was sad when the Chief left, but we still had the elevator to make us feel that the Chief would make port at any minute.

What was so unique about the elevator was its visibility from all sections of town, a permanent reminder of the Chief’s glory days.

We should have a memorial of that famous old St. Ignace resident.

I nearly cried when I saw it moored at Algomah Steel as a scow.
