Chief Wawatam: Money Should Be Spent To Rebuild

To the Editor:

In regard to the falling of the Chief Wawatam’s ramp, that really was sad. I know the city is short of money, but if St. Ignace wants the tourist ship to land in town to make tourist dollars, they should fix the dock. I know it will cost money, but if it’s torn down, that’s the end of it. Maybe with donations and some sort of fundraisers, it could be rebuilt.

I was decking on the Chief in the 1940s when I went into the U.S. Army.

Deb Evashevski must have something to say about the problem. She knows the anchor and chain are on the bottom in Mackinaw City. So take some kind of poll in The St. Ignace News and see what the people say or want. It will cost money to tear it down, and that money will never be recouped.

(Please excuse my writing, I am using a feather for a pen and it’s still fastened onto a chicken.)
