The bow of Coast Guard Cutter Hollyhock from Port Huron looks out over the old state ferry Dock 3 in St. Ignace (left) while moored at the Biscayne Bay dock Monday, January 23. Demonstration gear is being prepared for loading by the crane at right, and summer navigation buoys can be seen on the dock, stored for the winter. Hollyhock is participating in a project to demonstrate techniques for removing spilled oil from a frozen environment. The Straits of Mackinac exercise will continue to Wednesday, January 25, and is led by the Coast Guard’s Research and Development Center.
