Northern Ferry ended its winter ferry service to Mackinac Island Saturday, January 28, ending the 2011 ferry season. Shepler’s Mackinac Island Ferry discontinued its passenger service Wednesday, January 18. All freight service is also discontinued.

The City of Mackinac Island requires franchised ferryboat companies to provide passenger service until ice conditions prevent safe travel between St. Ignace and Mackinac Island. Passenger services are scheduled to resume March 15, weather permitting.

Great Lakes Air provides air service between the Island and the mainland seven days a week.
