Eleanor Nobach
Eleanor Nobach Eleanor Ann Nobach, 87, formerly of Cedarville, died Monday, December 26, 2011, at Evergreen Living Center in St. Ignace.
She was born February 21, 1924, in Lansing, to Manson Stoneham and Stella (nee Grant) Stoneham.
She grew up on the south side of Lansing, where she was graduated from high school.
In 1947, she married her best friend’s brother, Kenneth Norbach, when he returned from military service during World War II. They settled in Lansing to begin their family.
Mr. Nobach worked as a builder and they liked to visit his aunt and uncle on Drummond Island during the summers. They soon bought some property and built a summer home of their own on Drummond Island. They traveled there often until 1986, when he retired and they moved to the island. That fall, however, they found a year-around home in Cedarville, and settled permanently in Cedarville.
When Mr. Nobach died suddenly in 1994, Mrs. Nobach moved to Grand Rapids with her son, Stephen. They moved back to Cedarville in 1997 and she lived there until, with her health failing, she moved to Mackinac Straits Long Term Care.
Mrs. Nobach was a member of Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church. She loved to read and watch television. She especially enjoyed her dog, Dwezel, and her son’s puppy, Moses.
She is survived by two sons, Stephen Nobach of Cedarville and James Nobach of Holt, a grandson, Nicholas Nobach of Holt, a sister, Marjorie Barnes of Grand Ledge, and a sister-in-law, Beverly Stoneham of Sheridan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter, Denise Nobach, her brother, Robert Stoneham, and her brother-in-law, Donald Barnes.
Private services will be held, with burial at St Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Lansing.
Reamer Galer Funeral Home in Pickford assisted the family with arrangements.
