Gordon McMillan Gordon McMillan Gordon Wallace McMillan, 95, of Trout Lake, passed away February 27, 2013, in Mesa, Arizona, following a brief illness.

He was born August 28, 1916, to Ira and Lilly (nee Reed) McMillan, in Dick.

He married the love of his life, Ida, October 25, 1938, and they enjoyed 67 years of marriage.

He was an avid reader, outdoorsman, and gardener. He loved to hunt, fish, and create beautiful gardens, including a raspberry patch he grew for 20 years. He especially enjoyed hosting deer camp for his sons and nephews.

Mr. McMillan was a life member of St. Ignace Masonic Lodge 369.

He attended Grace Brethren Church.

He left the area for a short time and worked for Stevens Company and Buick. He returned to the Upper Peninsula, where he farmed and logged.

Many remember him as a kind, generous, gentle person who was a positive role model for his family.

He is survived by his children and their families; Frank McMillan of Mesa, Arizona; Gordon and Loni McMillan of Seattle; Sandra and Abraham Perales Jr. of Holland, Michigan; Leonard and Judy McMillan of Bonnie Lake, Washington; Sherry and Lloyd Sherman of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Kim and Carl Hatch III of Grand Haven. He is further survived by his extended family, Tom and Cheryl Rapson of Sault Ste. Marie; Colonel and Linda Lake of Durand; Elvis and Sue Lake of Davison; one brother and his wife, Larry and Vicki McMillan of Colorado Springs, Colorado; 24 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren, and his beloved dog, Simba.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ida; four brothers, Lewis, Paul, Judd, and Raymond, and his sister, Clara Baxter.

A memorial service will be Friday, July 5, at 11 a.m., with visitation at 10 a.m. at Dodson Funeral Home in St. Ignace with Pastor Mike Lane officiating. Masonic graveside services will be at 1 p.m. at Lakeview Cemetery in Trout Lake, conducted by St. Ignace Lodge 369. A luncheon will be at 2 p.m. at the Trout Lake Township Hall.
