James McDonald

James Robert McDonald, 64, of Kincheloe, died Saturday, December 27, 2014, in Sault Ste. Marie.

He was born October 18, 1950, to Gordon and Carol (nee Brubacher) McDonald in Petoskey.

Mr. McDonald first lived in Brutus, until he was three years old, when his family moved to Pickford. He lived in Pickford until he was 14 years old, when the family moved to Swartz Creek.

He was graduated from Durand High School in 1969. After graduation, he worked for General Motors for a few years, before he moved to Wisconsin to work on farms. Mr. McDonald moved back to Pickford, and then to Kincheloe, about 20 years ago.

He is survived by his mother, Carol Champion of Indian River; a sister, Dorene McDonald, also of Indian River; two brothers and their families, Richard McDonald of Petoskey and Charles and Nona McDonald of Harbor Springs; three stepbrothers and their families, Dan and Luanne Champion, Kirk and Karen Champion, and Dwight and Norma Jean Champion; a stepsister, Marqurite Champion; two aunts and their families, Dora Reber and Ardith McDonald; an uncle and his family, Sidney Brubacher; two nephews, Eddie Sherman and Jason Thelen; two nieces and their families, Velma and Andrew Hinkley and Molly McDonald; great-nieces and great-nephews Kim, Jenny, Chris, and Jon, and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gordon McDonald; a sister, Marjorie Sherman; a brother, Kenneth McDonald, and his stepfather, Bill Champion.

Services were Saturday, January 3, at noon at Northern Michigan Baptist Bible Church in Alanson.

R. Galer Funeral Home in Pickford assisted the family with arrangements.
