In between the beautiful fall days, which included warmer than normal temperatures and beautiful blue skies, the rains came, sometimes in buckets, and usually during the night. It washed away the dust and grime that sometimes accumulates, but left the ever-turning leaves brighter than ever, just in time for them to start falling. It’s no wonder that, for many folks, this is their favorite time of year. It is also mine.

The combined fellowship churches of Rexton and Naubinway will meet at the crosses in Naubinway Wednesday, October 12, at 5:30 p.m. A hot dog roast and business meeting are scheduled.

Congratulations to Pastor Tim and Kathy Miller on the arrival of their first grandchild, a baby girl, Avery Allyn, born Tuesday, September 20, to Daryl and Andrea (nee Miller) Martin.

Congratulations as well to John, Jr. and Elaine Browning on the birth of their grandchild, Ryder, born to Alan and Kelsey Browning Monday, October 3.

Congratulations also to my brother, Dave Beaudoin, who concluded his daily, routine work schedule

Friday, September 30. May he enjoy a long and happy retirement.

It’s always nice to see our former neighbors, and niece and nephew, Robyn and Dave Albrecht, who were in the neighborhood this past weekend. Also, our son, Andy, came north to help in a few building projects with his brother and father.

Just a reminder that the Engadine Consolidated Schools Board of Education will meet Wednesday, October 12, at 7 p.m. This is your opportunity to see how things are being done at school, as well as provide your input as a member of the community.

The sports schedule at Engadine Consolidated Schools for Thursday, October 13, includes junior high basketball at home at 5:30 p.m.; junior varsity football at Posen, and junior varsity and varsity volleyball at Rudyard at 6 p.m. Friday, October 14, will see the varsity football team make the long ride to Baraga to play.

Engadine Library will host a fall wreath-making workshop Thursday, October 13, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The wreaths’ design is inspired by Edgar Allen Poe’s poem, “The Raven.” If you are interested, call the library at (906) 477-6313 to register.

Belated birthday wishes to our grandson, Alexander Livermore, and Louis Oberle October 10 and Jennifer Bell October 11.

Birthday wishes to a former resident with deep family ties, Jackie Hart Weger, and Kim Hood October 12, Sandy Quinn October 13, Josh Frazier, Adriane Kovar, and our son, Scott Livermore, October 14, Charlie Buckholz and Dalton Zdebski October 15, and Dave Frazier, Jr. October 16.

Anniversary wishes to Harold and Peggy Benoit October 12, Dan and Jen Lancour October 13, and Tim and Laurie Wyse October 15.

Condolences to Frank Keller of Gould City on the untimely passing of his son, Jeff, Friday, September 30, in Dallas, Texas, after a brief illness. An obituary was published in the October 6 issue of The St. Ignace News.

Our sympathy also to Linda Strom on the passing of her mother, Verna Engel, Thursday, October 6, at Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital in Manistique. She was a beloved Gould City resident.
