The Trojans looked formidable at the start of the game, effectively stuffing the Saints’ run game during the first possession, but the smaller team gave up big plays to the Saints, which appeared to demoralize the Central Lake players.

At the end of the first half, the score was 42-0.

Saints Coach Marty Spencer had said in advance of the game that the events of homecoming week could distract the players from the game, and in fact every male member of the homecoming court was a football player, but the team remained focused throughout the contest, executing plays with well-practiced efficiency.

Quarterback Steve Seccia found six receivers and threw for a season high of 279 yards and five touchdowns. The only mark against him was a lone interception in the end zone in the second quarter.

Runningbacks Mitchell Peterson and David LaVake continued to be reliable playmakers for the Saints, and Kenney Rickley, Carter Tallaire, and Garrett Kellan each caught a touchdown pass, among other offensive accomplishments, revealing the Saints have many offensive weapons to choose from.

Defensively, the Saints dominated, as well, shutting out the Trojans, who struggled all night.

The Saints improved to 6-1 on the season, with a 6-0 conference record. With six victories, the Saints have clinched a playoff berth.

Homecoming court included freshmen Rayanne Bigelow and Reid Marshall, sophomores Madison Olsen and Shawn Livingston, juniors Erika Frazier and David VanHeuvelen, and seniors Jordan Belleville, Kate Bentgen, Lydia Brown, Taylor St. Onge, Jared Helms, Mitchell Peterson, Carter Tallaire, and David LaVake.
