Lovegrove Trial Begins in Charlevoix’s Circuit Court

The trial of St. Ignace resident Darrell Lovegrove, who is charged in the traffic death of St. Ignace high school student Mitchell Snyder, has begun in Charlevoix County’s 33rd Circuit Court. The first day of the trial Monday, October 17, saw the jury selected before both sides made their opening statements. The first two witnesses were also called in, both individuals who saw the scene of the car accident on Mackinac Trail in October 2015.

The charges against Mr. Lovegrove as the trial begins are second degree murder, vehicular manslaughter, operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing death, and operating a vehicle while intoxicated – third offense.

The trial is tentatively scheduled to run through Friday, October 21.
