Harold Klave

Harold Klave Harold Klave Harold H. Klave, 71, of Trout Lake, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, October 16, 2016, at Mackinac Straits Health System in St. Ignace.

He was born April 15, 1945, to Harold J. and Eva (nee Kalan) Klave in Detroit.

Mr. Klave spent two tours of duty in Vietnam as a staff sergeant with the United States Marine Corps.

He was employed at one time as the manager of the family store, Klave Patent Medicine, in Detroit.

He married Judy Oldenburg July 29, 1967, in Harper Woods.

The family moved from Harper Woods to Trout Lake in 1973, when they bought Twin Cedars Resort in Trout Lake. They recently sold the resort to their son and daughter-in-law.

Mr. Klave was active in Trout Lake. He was a member of the American Legion in both Trout Lake and Hulbert. He was also a member of the St. Ignace Chamber of Commerce.

He loved his family and enjoyed entertaining family and friends. Mr. Klave was a friendly man, family members said, and he never forgot a person once he met them.

He is survived by his wife, Judy of Trout Lake; a son and his family, Robert and Meghan Klave, also of Trout Lake; twin daughters and their families, Lisa and Cale Gady of Rochester Hills and Vanessa Klave and Jamie Stinnet of Traverse City, and three grandchildren, Hannah, Cooper, and Kylee. He is also survived by two brothers and their families, Herman and Mary Ann Klave of Grayling and Ronald and Pat Wilkowski of Gaylord.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Klave was preceded in death by a sister, Madelyn Haytol.

Visitation will be Saturday, November 5, from noon to 1:30 p.m., at Dodson Funeral Home in St. Ignace, followed by services at 2 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in St. Ignace with Pastor David Tielbar officiating.

Burial will be at a later date in Lakeview Cemetery in Trout Lake.
