Ronald Huffman

Ronald Huffman Ronald Huffman Ronald Sidney Huffman, 78, of Hessel, died Friday, October 28, 2016, at his home, surrounded by his family.

He was born October 13, 1938, to Joseph and Eva (nee Lee) Huffman in Trout Lake.

Mr. Huffman spent most of his life in Hessel. His work history spoke of his interest in many different activities. As a young man, he, along with his twin brother, Donald, moved to Detroit, where they worked at General Motors for a time. However, Hessel was “home,” and they returned to be near the rest of their family. Throughout the years, Mr. Huffman worked as a meat cutter at Fenlon Grocery and also at Pickford Meat Company. He worked in construction as a carpenter, concrete laborer, and dock builder. He also worked as a laborer on ore boats.

He married Dorothy Colegrove March 2, 1968, in Moran.

Mr. Huffman enjoyed spending time outdoors gardening and cutting firewood. He enjoyed music and playing his guitar. He loved spending time with his family, and he made each of his nieces and nephews feel like they were his favorite.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; six siblings and their families, Donald Huffman and Beatrice Willis, Dorothy Currie, James and Betty Huffman, and William “Bill” Huffman, all of Hessel, Charles “Chuck” and Debra Huffman of Moran, and Mona “Midge” Gugin of Hessel; two sisters-in-law and their families, Phyllis Huffman of St. Ignace and Sally Huffman of Hessel, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Huffman was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph Huffman, Carl Huffman, and Robert “Pokey” Huffman; a sister-in-law, Alice Huffman, and two brothers-in-law, Joseph Gugin and Robert Currie.

Services will be Thursday, November 3, at 1 p.m., at R. Galer Funeral Home in Pickford. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to time of the service.

Interment will be at Fenlon Cemetery.
