Arnold Line: A Great Company Made Us Rich in Memories

To the Editor:

Arnold Line employees and friends enjoyed a great get-together Saturday, November 12, at the Key Hole in Mackinaw City. We missed those who couldn’t make it, but you were not forgotten. Keith Martin did a great job serving as master of ceremonies, and everyone enjoyed lots of laughter and fun. It was in the spirit we all have for the years spent with a great company.

In 1952, in my first paying job with Arnold Line, I made $25 a week. It was a lot of money then for a 15-year-old. Now, looking back 64 years, I didn’t get rich then, and I didn’t get rich in money now, but I did get rich by your friendship, hard work, and fun times through the years.

I look at all of you, and I know you will carry on in your lives and do well, wherever you go and whatever you do. You will be rich yourselves for all the adventures and memories you have for the years spent with Arnold Line. Treasure them.

As Bob Hope said, “Thanks for the memories.”

Best wishes, and good luck.

Your old Captain Paul Allers and son, Captain Preston Allers, and the rest of my family and former employees
