Collin Rose


Collin Rose Collin Rose Collin James Rose, 29, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2016, after being wounded in the line of duty as a Wayne State University Police officer.

He was born April 1, 1987, to Randy and Karen Rose.

He previously worked in the local area for Shepler’s Mackinac Island Ferry during the 2007 season.

Mr. Rose was a large supporter of groups geared toward fallen officers, including riding in the Police Unity Tour. He proposed to his fiancée, Nicole Salgot, during one such ride. He was a member of the Metro Detroit Schutzhund Club and he had a beer mug on the wall at the Baffin Brewery. He is remembered as a police officer who made a huge impact on the lives of those who knew him.

He is survived by Ms. Salgot; his parents, Randy and Karen Rose; his brother, Curtis; his grandmother, Margaret Rysz, his grandfather, Clifford Rose, his aunts and uncles Debbie and Fred Winkler, Diana and Robert Shafer, and David and Cheryl Rose, Ms. Salgot’s family, Cheryl and Steve Salgot, his intended brothers-in-law, Mark Poulter and Matt Salgot, and his dogs, Clyde and Wolverine.

Services for Mr. Rose will include a visitation Wednesday, November 30, at Detroit’s Ford Field from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., followed by a gathering from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Kaul Funeral Home in St. Clair Shores. There will be a mass Thursday morning, December 1, in St. Clair Shores at 11 a.m. at the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Burial will take place at 1 p.m. at the Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township. The memorial mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday, December 2, at the St. Ann Catholic Church in Augusta.

Donations can be made to the Police Unity Tour, Vested Interest in K9s, Project Paws Alive, Inc., Brotherhood for the Fallen, and Detroit Dog Rescue.
