Joyce Mill Joyce Mill Joyce Ann Mill, 72, of Kincheloe, died Tuesday, November 22, 2016, in Petoskey.

She was born October 13, 1944, to Harland and Wynona (nee Weaver) Smith in Cass City.

Mrs. Mill grew up in Sebewaing. She was graduated from Sebewaing High School, where she played clarinet in the band. After high school, she attended Business College in Bay City.

She met Eugene Mill at a wedding reception, and they were married April 10, 1965. They began to rear their family in Sebewaing, before moving to Houghton in 1967, where Mr. Mill attended college at Michigan Technological University. Upon his graduation, the family lived in several communities, including Cadillac, Charlotte, Kalkaska, and Sault Ste. Marie. After settling in Sault Ste. Marie, in 1986, they began working for Farm Bureau Insurance. They later owned their own agency in Sault Ste. Marie and Kincheloe, where they bought their house and retired, in 2006.

She was an avid reader. Mrs. Mill loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She liked to keep up with friends and family on social media. She liked to play card games like cribbage, and to golf. She also liked to put together puzzles and play board games.

She is survived by her husband, Gene Mill; a daughter and her family, Rhonda and Craig Carruthers of Brimley; a son and his family, Jon and Toni Mill of Sault Ste. Marie; grandchildren, Derek Carruthers and Chenoa Locke, Rachel and Nicholas Kibble, Rebecca Carruthers, and Kilee Behrens and Earl Manuel, and five great-grandchildren, Madison, Zachary, Blake, Grayson, and Wyatt. She is also survived by three brothers and their families, Norman and Millie Smith of Boring, Lyle Smith of Houghton Lake, and Dean and Kay Smith of Hope.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mill was preceded in death by an infant son, Matthew Mill; a sister, Arlene Metzger; two brothers, Kenneth Smith and James Smith, and her stepmother, Minnie Smith.

Visitation was held Sunday, November 27, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at R. Galer Funeral Home in Pickford.
