High School Basketball Schedules

The high school basketball season has arrived in the Eastern Upper Peninsula with the St. Ignace and Cedarville girls teams springing into action this week. The Saints and the Trojans boys teams will tip off next week, with all local teams playing several games before taking a break for the holidays.

The St. Ignace girls teams will begin their season Saturday, December 3, with a junior varsity and varsity double header at home against Grosse Point South. The JV game will start at noon, with the varsity game following. The Saints will then hit the road for their second game Wednesday, December 7, against Cedarville at 6 p.m. They will return home to play Sault Ste. Marie Friday, December 9, at 5:45 p.m. then close out 2016 on the road against Newberry Friday, December 16, at 5:45 p.m.

The Cedarville girls teams have already begun their season with a game Monday, November 28, at Hillman. The home opener for the varsity and junior varsity teams will be Friday, December 2, at 5 p.m., as Cedarville hosts Boyne City. It will kick off a fivegame home stand that will see the Trojans host St. Ignace at 6 p.m. Wednesday, December 7, Rudyard at 6 p.m. Friday, December 9, Newberry Wednesday, December 14, at 6 p.m., and Pickford Friday, December 16, at 6 p.m. Their last game of 2016 will be a road game against Harbor Springs Tuesday, December 20, at 5:30 p.m.

The St. Ignace boys teams will tip off their new season Tuesday, December 6, at 5:45 p.m., at home against Charlevoix, then travel to face Sault Ste. Marie Thursday, December 8, at 5:45 p.m. The Saints will host Newberry Thursday, December 15, at 5:45 p.m. The last two games of the calendar year will be on the road against Boyne City Monday, December 19, at 5:30 p.m., and Tuesday, December 20, at 6 p.m., against Pellston.

The Cedarville boys teams will play four games before their holiday break starting with a home opener Tuesday, December 6, against Hillman at 5 p.m. They will then play three road games, starting with a showdown against Rudyard Thursday, December 8, at 6 p.m. The Trojans will play Newberry Tuesday, December 13, at 6 p.m., and Pickford Thursday, December 15, at 6 p.m.
