Rescuers Locate St. Ignace Man After Search Near Castle Rock

A St. Ignace man who had been missing near Castle Rock during the early hours of Wednesday morning, November 30, was found unhurt and sleeping in a nearby camper later that day after a search by several police and response agencies. No charges will be filed in the incident.

Two local men hiked up a wooded hill behind Castle Rock around 11 p.m. Tuesday, November 29, when one of them dropped some beer he was carrying, stumbled down the slope, and became lost in the darkness. His friend called for help around 2:30 a.m.

The Mackinac County Sheriff’s Office, the St. Ignace Police Department, the Michigan State Police, Straits Area EMS, and the St. Ignace Fire Department all took part in the search.
