Russell Goetz

Russell Goetz Russell Goetz Russell William Goetz, 46, of Raber, died Saturday, December 3, 2016, in Petoskey.

He was born January 24, 1970, to Phil and Norma (nee Westfall) Goetz in Sault Ste. Marie.

Mr. Goetz grew up and lived in DeTour until the age of 10, before moving to Raber. He was graduated from DeTour High School. Following graduation, he served for four years in the United States Air Force, before making his home in Nebraska. He moved back to Raber in 1999.

He worked for many years at Huff’s Repair in Cedarville. For the past three years, he and his brother, Cletus, have owned and operated Goetz’s Garage in Goetzville.

Mr. Goetz was a world-class mechanic. He always went out of his way to help people. He was a caring father, husband, brother, and son. Most important in his life was his family, who he strove to teach about life, farming, and being self-sufficient. He loved kayaking, nature, animals, farming, and gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Patte Ann (nee Smith) Goetz; three children, Korin Goetz, Kyle Goetz, and Lauren Goetz, all of Sault Ste. Marie; a grandson, Tyler Sayles; his parents, Phil and Norma Goetz of DeTour Village; a brother, Cletus Goetz of Raber; a sister and her family, Joanne and Donald Stefanski of Goetzville, and dear friends, John and Cindy Dutcher of Raber.

A memorial gathering will be held Friday, December 23, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Yooperman’s Bar and Grill in Goetzville.

R. Galer Funeral Home in Pickford is assisting the family with arrangements.
