Mackinaw City Boys Defeat Boyne Falls 81-39

The hosting Mackinaw City boys’ basketball team bested Northern Lakes Conference opponent Boyne Falls 81-39 Friday, February 17. Mackinaw City (12-3, 11-1) prevailed, despite some players still being affected by an illness that hindered the team earlier in the week.

“It was great to be able to get some of our bench players some quality minutes and even better, to get production from them,” said Coach John Martin. “Johnny Russ and Nolan LaLonde stepped in and did a great job for us on both ends of the court tonight.”

Mackinaw City was in control throughout the game as the Comets opened up a 26-12 lead in the first quarter and a 46-22 lead at halftime. The team’s hot streak continued in the third quarter as it outscored the Loggers 21-6. The Comets closed out the game with a 14-11 edge in the fourth quarter. The offense for both teams was varied as every player who took part in the game scored.
