Taking Inventory of Downtown Signs

Signs large and small were inspected Saturday, March 18, in downtown St. Ignace during the planning commission’s walking meeting to gain measurements for the development of a sign ordinance. Commission members inspected and measured signs ranging from large billboards down to this small marker for Kiwanis Beach. The commission and city want to deveop ordinances to ensure that future signs conform to what citizens want to see. Here Planning Commission Chair Betsy Dayrell- Hart measures the sign, finding it to be 3’ 4” wide and 5’ 4” tall from the ground, before commenting that it is a nice sign as it is very visible from neighboring State Street.
