Shirley Jellison

Shirley Jellison Shirley Jellison Shirley Ann Jellison, of Cedarville, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2017, at Cedar Cove Assisted Living. She was 83.

She was born August 5, 1933, in Sturgis.

Mrs. Jellison was adopted as an infant by Sadie Linkhauer, and she grew up in Sturgis. As a high school senior, she moved to Pontiac to live with her brother and she was graduated from Pontiac Waterford High School. After high school, she worked at Sturgis Memorial Hospital.

She met Charles “Mort” Jellison when he returned from the Philippines. After they were married, they made their home in Sturgis, where they reared their son. Mrs. Jellison moved to Cedarville in 2009, to be near her son and his family.

She was a member of First Union Church in Cedarville.

Mrs. Jellison liked to fish, crochet, garden, bake, and cook. She enjoyed watching wildlife, feeding the deer from her hand, and bird watching. She and her husband traveled extensively throughout the Midwest, camping in their fifthwheel trailer. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her son and his family, John Michael “Mike” and Laurel Jellison of Cedarville; grandchildren, Erin and Luis Torres, Brooke Grimes, and Evan and Rebecca Jellison, and great-grandchildren, Braxton Grimes, Liam Grimes, Oliver Grimes, Zoey Broadstreet, Isabella Torres, Mila Torres, Austyn Hahn, and Lucas Jellison.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Mort Jellison; her mother, Sadie Linkhauer, and two brothers, Harold Smead and Gerald Smead.

Services were held Tuesday, April 11, at 11 a.m. at First Union Church in Cedarville with Pastor Jeff Meyers officiating.

Interment will be at Cedar Cemetery this summer.

R. Galer Funeral Home in Pickford assisted the family with arrangements.
