Getzen, Seccia Named April Students of the Month at LaSalle


Eileen Getzen Eileen Getzen Eileen Getzen and Steve Seccia, both seniors at LaSalle High School, have been selected as April Students of the Month by school faculty.

Eileen’s schedule this year includes honors English, anatomy, world history, calculus, band, American Sign Language, and mentoring. She has a grade point average of 3.722 on a 4.0 point scale.

Her favorite class is band.

Eileen says her most influential teachers are Craig Hierholzer, “for teaching me everything I know about music,” and Trudy Olsen, “for teaching me to push myself in track.”

While in school, she participated in basketball, track, and cross country. She has been in drama for three years, and she portrayed Alice in “Alice in Wonderland.” She has also participated in the Mackinac County 4-H Straits Shooters archery club. She has participated in concert, jazz, and pep bands, and also the marching band, where she was the drum major.


Steve Seccia Steve Seccia She is a member of the National Honor Society. She has participated in the Just Desserts program for being on the honor roll.

Eileen enjoys drawing, singing, writing, and skiing. She loves learning new instruments, and she can play alto sax, clarinet, and bass clarinet.

After high school, she plans to attend Grand Valley State University to study speech and language pathology and minor in psychology.

Eileen is the daughter of Garth and Julia Law. She has two brothers, Silas and Ivan Law, and one sister, Hailey Getzen.

Steve Seccia

Steve’s schedule this year includes honors English, introduction to education, world history, calculus, work experience, and introduction to mentoring. He has a grade point average of 3.624 on a 4.0 point scale.

His favorite subject is world history.

Steve said all of his teachers are influential.

While in school, he has participated in basketball, golf, and track. He was the captain of the football team, and he has received various awards.

He is a member of the National Honor Society. He has participated in jazz band, and also the Just Desserts program for being on the honor roll. He has received many classroom awards.

Steve enjoys hunting and fishing.

After graduation, he plans to attend Albion College to study premedicine and play football. After that, he plans to attend medical school to earn his doctorate in anesthesiology.

Steve is the son of Steve and Lisa Seccia. He has one brother, Remington, and two sisters, Savannah and Skylar.
