St. Ignace Community Is an Amazing Place To Live

To the Editor:

There are so many amazing things about our community. Leadership is well organized and people oriented. The sites and businesses are many and bring in tourists and boost our economy. The view of the lake from the boardwalk is breathtaking. The historical sites in our area make for adventures, from museums to the Island. Decades ago, I followed my son and daughterin law to settle here in this amazing area. Drawn by the child-centered activities and beautiful lake, I found peace.

The most amazing aspect of this area is the compassion and love of our people. Never before have I experienced such love from a community. The way everyone rallies around to support each other is amazing. We believe there are angels among us. We can feel the Spirit at work in our community.

Dalton, Dakota, and Dallas, my grandsons, came home with me from Phoenix 10 years ago. Dalton will be graduated this year. Dakota and Dallas attend college, and Dalton will this fall. When they first came here, they were amazed at all the opportunities for them to engage in, from soccer, football, wrestling, band, drama, and industrial arts, and so many events for them to join and have fun. I recall driving through town on a sunny day. Dakota said, “Grandma, why do you wave at everyone?” I answered, “They are my friends.” He replied, “They are our friends now, too.”

Without family and friends, our 10-year adventure would have turned out so differently. Family is so important in life. Our family and friends, and you, the amazing community, came together and provided a safe and welcoming environment. Your deeds have not gone unnoticed, nor have they gone unappreciated. We love our community.

This is an amazing place to live.
