Summary of Council Proceedings
May 15, 2017

The Regular Council Meeting convened at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 15, 2017, in the Council Chambers at City Hall with Mayor Litzner presiding.

Council approved the minutes from the May 1, 2017, Council Meeting.

Council adopted the Resolution for the St. Ignace Township/MDOT water main project.

Council authorized the City Clerk and Mayor to sign the agreement between MDOT and the City of St. Ignace for the St. Ignace Township water main project.

Police Chief Wilk informed Council on the new state statute regarding Taxi cabs and the City’s Taxi Ordinance.

Council approved a budget amendment to transfer boat launch expenses from the Marina to the General Fund.

Council adopted a Resolution increasing boat launch fees effective July 1, 2017.

City Manager Therrian presented a report listing work done on City streets from 2014 thru 2016, totaling $605,640.

City Manager Therrian reviewed the April financials with Council.

Councilmember Clapperton inquired on the status of the enforcement of the new Housing Ordinance and the Blight Ordinance.

Councilmember Paquin inquired on the status of lights for Dock #3.

Council adopted a Resolution for a property split.

Skip Schmidt, Librarian, on behalf of the Library Board, announced his retirement in the late fall, and updated Council on the search for a new Librarian.

Mayor Litzner provided Council with a revised Comp Time Policy and Interview questions, adding that City Manager interviews will be held on May 22, 23 and 30th beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Council authorized City Attorney Evashevski to proceed with a blight issue.

Public comment was received.

Council considered and approved bills in the amount of $32,309.70.

Council moved to go into closed session.

Council returned from closed session at 8:40 p.m.

The next Regular Council Meeting will be held on Monday, June 1, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall.
