Bernice Buckley

Bernice Buckley Bernice Buckley Bernice (nee Glashaw) Buckley, 89, a winter resident of The Villages, Florida, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017.

She was born July 2, 1928, to Frank and Helen (nee Knopp) Glashaw Sr. in St. Ignace.

Mrs. Buckley was graduated from the Ursuline Academy in St. Ignace. She was also graduated from Northern Michigan University in Marquette. She did her graduate work at Manhattanville, New York.

She was a retired schoolteacher. She taught school in Michigan, Urbana, Illinois, and Yonkers, New York, where she was designated as “Teacher of the Year.”

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Dan; four sons, Craig, Todd, Kent, and Ross; seven grandchildren in Michigan and Georgia, and a sister, Darlene Fenner of Colorado.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Buckley was preceded in death by four brothers, Edward, Harold, Frank Jr., and Ernie Glashaw, and a sister-in-law, Bertha Glashaw.

Burial will be at Lady Lake, Florida.

Hiers-Baxley Funeral Service in The Villages assisted the family with arrangements.
