Dolores ‘Dee’ Samborski


Dolores Samborski Dolores Samborski Dolores “Dee” Elda Samborski, 85, of Alanson, passed away Saturday, May 20, 2017, in Cedarville, where she had resided at Cedar Cove Assisted Living for the last three years.

She was born April 21, 1932, to Alexander and Elda (nee Guilmond) Brown in Chicago, Illinois.

Mrs. Samborski and her husband of 50 years, William “Bill,” also of Chicago, were married in Brighton. They resided in the Detroit and Taylor areas until 1978, when they moved to Oden. From 1978 to 1998, the couple owned and operated the Carriage Trade Party Store and Lake Apartments in Oden.

She was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ in Brutus. She attended the First Union Church in Cedarville.

She is survived by two daughters and their families, Ruth and David McLeese of Decatur and Alice and Lonnie Newton of Cedarville; grandchildren, Daryl and Brandy McLeese, Shawn and Lianna McLeese, Shannon McLeese, William and Tina Double, John and Marion Newton, and Tammy Wood; great-grandchildren, Addison, Alexys, Eoin, Kian, Fynn, Shannon, Austin, Tamara, Jeremiah, Caroline, Alissa, and Caleb; a nephew, Robert Splinter of Alanson; a niece, Mary Blalock, also of Alanson, and many other nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Samborski was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, who died in 2002; a sister, Margaret Splinter; a niece, Barbara Carter, and a good friend, Ross Ackley, who died in 2013.

Services will be Friday, May 26, at noon at Zion Christian Fellowship in Brutus with Pastor Leroy Sutfin and Pastor Roger Fate officiating.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 25, from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Cedar Cove Assisted Living in Cedarville and also Friday, May 26, from 10 a.m. to noon at Zion Christian Fellowship in Brutus.

Burial will be in Littlefield Township Cemetery in Alanson next to her husband.
