Mackinaw City Softball Cranks Up the Offense

The Mackinaw City softball team lit up the scoreboard many times Tuesday, May 16, as it scored a combined 41 runs over two games Tuesday, May 16, while picking up two wins on the road against Wolverine. The Comets won the opening game 17-7 in five innings on the mercy rule before both teams’ bats heated up in a nightcap that saw Mackinaw City prevail 24-18.

Kayla Gallagher was the Comets winning pitcher in both games. Calysta Bell almost hit for the cycle in game one as she recorded four RBIs from one single, one double, and a triple. Sarah Morse added three singles and two RBI, while Haley Jones had two singles and two RBI. Kyra Cryderman had one double and three RBIs.

Nine players recorded RBIs for the Comets in game two. Samantha

Somers led the way with a double and a single while batting in two runs. Morse and Bell each added one single and two RBIs.
