Nancy ‘Sunni’ Dollinger

Nancy Dollinger Nancy Dollinger Nancy L. “Sunni” Cox Dollinger, 69, of Gulf Breeze, Florida, passed away Friday, May 26, 2017, at the James Cancer Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She had been a resident of Florida since 1982, after she retired from a retail career. Mrs. Dollinger spent every summer of her life in Michigan. Her love for the water and the outdoors was clear to all who visited her home in Hessel.

She was born February 4, 1948, to Milford and Imogene (nee Light) Cox in Shelby, Ohio.

Mrs. Dollinger was a 1970 graduate of Ohio State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in English, a degree which she put to use as she tutored writing skills for her children and their friends many years later.

She was employed by The Limited, Inc. for 17 years, a company she helped build. She retired as a district manager at the age of 37, and was known for her attention to detail and sharp eye for design. Mrs. Dollinger was one of the first female managers for The Limited, earning many accolades during her career, including Regional Manager of the Year in 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, and 1986. Her position led her all over the country, including Indiana, New York, Michigan, Florida, and Pennsylvania.

She was a member of the Tri Delta Sorority and Shelby Eagles Club. She was also a participant in Girls State.

She is survived by four children and their families, John Dollinger of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Katie and Philip Adam of Houston, Texas, Perry and Cara Dollinger of Tallahassee, Florida, and Brenda and Jonathan Kaye of Plantation, Florida, and two grandchildren, Rhett Dollinger and Kade Dollinger. She is also survived by her former husband, Barry Dollinger of Coral Springs, Florida, and two siblings and their families, Terry and Phyllis Cox of Beavercreek, Ohio, and Sally and Jim Messenger of Shelby, Ohio.

Mrs. Dollinger was preceded in death by her parents.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby assisted the family with arrangements.
