William Eggers

William John Eggers, 88, of Simmons Settlement, near Hessel, passed away Monday afternoon, June 19, 2017, at his home, following a lingering illness. He had resided in the Upper Peninsula for 32 years.

He was born November 1, 1929, to John and Anne (nee Querbeck) Eggers in VanDyke.

Mr. Eggers was a veteran, serving from 1947 to 1949.

He was employed as a machinist for Ford Motor Company. He retired in 1985, after more than 35 years of service. The family had lived in Warren during his employment. He was a member of the Machinists Union.

He is survived by his wife, Frances; two sons and their families, Robert and Shirley Johnson of Roseville and Randy Johnson of Hessel; two daughters and their families, Terri and Dave Ingalls of St. Ignace and Dawn and Devon Barry of Sault Ste. Marie; 16 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother and his family, Norman Eggers of St. Clair Shores, and two sisters and their families, Eileen Lizotte of Howell and Martha Schwarzwalder of St. Clair Shores.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, June 27, at 11 a.m. at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in St. Ignace with Father Frank Ricca and Deacon Tom Mc- Clelland officiating. Visitation was from 10 a.m. to time of the service at the church.

Burial was in Oaklawn Chapel Gardens on M-129 in Bruce Township.

Dodson Funeral Home of St. Ignace assisted the family with arrangements.
