Gary Bigelow, Jr.


Gary Bigelow, Jr. Gary Bigelow, Jr. Gary F. Bigelow, Jr., 34, of Grand Rapids, formerly of St. Ignace and DeTour, passed away early Sunday morning, June 18, 2017, at his home. He had resided in Grand Rapids for more than 17 years.

He was born July 5, 1982, to Gary Sr. and Suzette (nee Perrault) Bigelow in Cheboygan.

Mr. Bigelow was graduated from DeTour High School.

He was employed at Eagle Film Extruders in Grand Rapids for more than 15 years.

Mr. Bigelow was a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians.

He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, cooking, and gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Adele; a son, Garryson; a daughter, Austyn; his parents, Suzette and Michael Steel of DeTour and Gary Sr. and Lisa Bigelow of Moran; two brothers and their families, Jeffery Bigelow of Moran and Jeremy and Katrina Bigelow of Cedarville; his twin sister and her family, Jessica and Christopher Idalski of Gaylord; another sister and her family, Cristy Bigelow of Sault Ste. Marie; step-siblings and their families, Bob and Brad Northrup of Grand Rapids and Mike Begovac of Minnesota, Michelle Stahl, and Benjamin Steel; grandmothers, Carlean Perault of St. Ignace and Donna Bigelow of Moran; his best friend, Matt Cornell of Grand Rapids; a special friend, Heather Gates, also of Grand Rapids, and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Bigelow was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Frank Earl Bigelow and William Perrault.

Services will be held Saturday, July 8, at 11 a.m. at Dodson Funeral Home in St. Ignace with Pastor Jeff Meyers officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to time of the service.

Burial will be in Wequayoc Cemetery on M-134. Native American rites will be celebrated at the cemetery.
