Jane Stockfisch


Jane Stockfisch Jane Stockfisch Jane Annette Stockfisch, 75, of St. Ignace, passed away peacefully Monday, July 24, 2017, surrounded by her family.

She was born April 2, 1942, to Lewis and Janet (nee Tuttle) Cook in Clinton.

Mrs. Stockfisch was graduated from Cadillac High School in 1960. She later earned a degree from the Cadillac Institute of Cosmetology, graduating in 1964.

She married Harold Stockfisch August 24, 1963, in Cadillac.

Mrs. Stockfisch was a member of the St. Ignace United Methodist Church.

She worked as a beautician, but her primary focus was taking care of her family. She loved to rescue animals, especially birds, and nurse them back to health. She was known as the “Animal Lady,” family members said. She also enjoyed art and could often be found painting, coloring, crocheting, or making jewelry. She was a Christian and collected guardian angels.

She is survived by her husband, Harold of St. Ignace; two children and their families, Brian and Mary Stockfisch of Clio and Heidi and Dwight Erickson of Kinross, and four grandchildren, Christopher, Jack, and Grace Stockfisch and Samantha and Travis Johnson. She is also survived by a brother and his family, Jim and Anne Cook of Sturgis.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stockfisch was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Stockfisch, who died in 2000, and a sister, Sally Orvis, who died in 2017.

Services were Friday, July 28, at 11 a.m. at St. Ignace United Methodist Church with Reverend Susie Hierholzer officiating. Visitation was from 10 a.m. to time of the service at the church.

Visitation was also held Thursday, July 27, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the church.

Burial was Friday, July 28, at 4 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in Kingsley.

Memorial contributions may be directed to University of Michigan Transplant Center.

C.S. Mulder Funeral Home in Sault Ste. Marie assisted the family with arrangements.
