Mackinac Island

By Margaret Doud

The weather has been very nice on Mackinac, with beautiful sunny days and nice, refreshing nights. With all the rain the Island has received, the grass is so green. Marquette Park is like a velvet carpet and the flowers are absolutely outstanding. The Shasta daisies, lavender sage, Mackinac hollyhocks, and black-eyed Susans are in full bloom, making the Island more special. The freighter traffic has been heavy through the Straits of Mackinac. It’s always fun to watch them glide by. Enjoy August on Mackinac Island.
