A Smith family reunion was held Saturday, August 5, on the Smith property. Folks traveled from Wisconsin, Colorado, and the Lower Peninsula, with people from St. Ignace also in attendance. Everyone had a great time and many memories were shared. A local band, Aisle 8, performed music. Other musicians were Henry Smith of Colorado, Henry’s son, Mike Smith, grandson Mason Smith of Grand Rapids, and Taylor Blair of Moran. The next reunion is planned for August 2019.

I enjoyed a nice visit with Pam (nee Huskey) Sutton of Kincheloe and her friend, Delores (nee Prout) Litzner, who grew up here, visiting from Minnesota. I hadn’t seen Delores since she was a young neighbor girl.

Claris Snyder and Muriel Woods, both residents at Evergreen Living Center, celebrated their birthdays August 17. They are both doing well. While visiting there, I reminisced with Brian Snyder about family members.

I had a nice visit with Hanna Lupan, who is a resident at Evergreen Living Center, hopefully for only a short time, as she is dealing with health issues.

Jim and Sharon Laakko were in Illinois Monday, August 21, to view the total solar eclipse.

It was nice to see Lyle Smith recently. Lyle and his friend, Rowena Price, were visiting Lyle’s brother, Warren, at Brevort Lake and toured Mackinac Island while here. They live in Howard, Ohio. Lyle was graduated from LaSalle High School in 1953.

Happy birthday to Jamas Gustafson August 24, Cara Mason August 25, Bob Brown August 26, and Sue Dionne August 29.

Anniversary wishes to Larry and Elaine Hansen and Terry and Sharon Smith August 25, Joe and Sandy Krause and Steve and Joan Therrian August 28, and Howard and Jeanne Hague August 31.

Take care, and enjoy the rest of August.
