Rudyard Volleyball Goes to Semis August 19

Rudyard’s volleyball team made it all the way to semifinals in the Pellston Tournament Saturday, August 19.

The Bulldogs split with both Gaylord and Pellston and beat Inland Lakes, Bay City All Saints, and Harbor Springs to go 8-2 in the pool for first place.

Rudyard beat East Jordan during bracket play, but fell to Gaylord in a tie-breaking set 15-13 in the semifinal match. Gaylord won the tournament over Pellston.

“Sierra Dugan was named All- Tournament team with 57 kills on the day, along with 46 digs and eight aces,” Coach Ellen Perry said. Sydnie Zeeryp had 35 kills and 13 blocks. Lane Clegg had 18 kills and led the team with 70 defensive digs, Jordan Spring dug up 53 along with her stellar serve reception. Cierra Molina set up 65 assists for the bulldogs. Haley Vansloten had 31 assists, Bailey Vansloten had 12 aces and 42 digs.

Now, the Rudyard team will not play again until school is in session, Coach Perry said.
