Carl Braun


Carl Braun Carl Braun Carl R. Braun passed away peacefully Saturday, August 19, 2017, at Santa Fe Assisted Living in Yucca Valley, California. He was 88.

He was born May 1, 1929, to August and Caroline (nee Litzner) Braun in Allenville.

Mr. Braun was educated in St. Ignace. He worked the ore ships on the Great Lakes, and he became a Marine in 1949, mainly serving aboard the cruiser Macon and aircraft carrier Roosevelt. After he was discharged in October 1952, he furthered his education at Detroit Institute of Technology and Wayne State University, earning a master’s degree in industrial education. He spent his summers working for the Trudell Transfer Company in Iron Mountain.

He married Janet Elaine Trudell in 1953.

Mr. Braun was employed as an industrial arts teacher by the Lamphere Board of Education in Madison

Heights. He later transferred to Ecorse High School, where his commitment and service for more than 40 years proved his love for education. As well as being an educator, he formed the family business of Braun Moving and Transfer. Assisted by his sons, Kurt and David, and many others, family members said, he maintained a reputation for getting the job done.

He is survived by two sons, Kurt Braun and David Braun, and two grandchildren, Cameron Lyston Wilson-Braun and Jacqueline Elane Braun.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Braun was preceded in death by his wife, Janet, who died in 1986, and a son, Scott, who died in 1964.

A memorial service will be held in Michigan in October, with the details to be announced later.
