Mildred ‘Millie’ Hanna


Mildred Hanna Mildred Hanna Mildred “Millie” Pearl Hanna, 94, passed away Monday, August 28, 2017, at Mackinac Straits Health System in St. Ignace. She had been a resident at Cedar Ridge Assisted Living in St. Ignace since 2012.

She was born December 21, 1922, to George and Mildred (nee MacDowell) Leach in Pickford.

Mrs. Hanna was a 1941 graduate of Pickford High School.

She married Kermith Hanna November 12, 1942, in Pickford.

After her husband’s return from service in World War II, they spent the next 62 years residing in Pickford rearing their two children, David and Gloria.

Mrs. Hanna and her husband enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and camping in their travel trailer.

She is survived by a son and his family, David and Robin Hanna of Fort Myers, Florida; a daughter and her family, Gloria and James Clegg of Pickford; four grandchildren and their families, Mark and Danielle Clegg of Stalwart, Pam and Dan Doran of Sault Ste. Marie, Bradley Clegg of Stalwart, and Amy and Alex Voros of Canton, Ohio; six great-grandchildren, Connor Clegg, twins Carter and Chloe Clegg, Max Hansen, Duncan Doran, and John Doran, and a sister, Esther Waybrant.

Mrs. Hanna was preceded in death by her husband; four brothers, Ivan, Elwin, Howard, and Vern Leach, and two sisters, Dorothy Bell and Ruby Crawford.

Services were held Saturday, September 2, at 3 p.m. at the Pickford United Methodist Church in Pickford with Pastor Tim Bashore officiating. Visitation was from 1 p.m. to time of the service at the church.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Pickford United Methodist Church or the Pickford Pennington House.

C.S. Mulder Funeral Home in Sault Ste. Marie assisted the family with arrangements.
