Miriam Roe


Miriam Roe Miriam Roe Miriam Katherine Roe, 93, of Rudyard, passed away Sunday, September 10, 2017, in Sault Ste. Marie.

She was born May 15, 1924, to George and Ethel (nee Armstrong) Gough in Sault Ste. Marie.

Mrs. Roe grew up in Sault Ste. Marie. She was graduated from Sault High School in 1942.

She married her high school sweetheart, Loy Roe, November 22, 1943, in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, where Mr. Roe was stationed in the service. After he completed his military service, they made their home in Rudyard, where they reared their family. After he retired, they spent winters in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

Mrs. Roe was active in the Rudyard Presbyterian Church.

She enjoyed playing cards with friends and golfing.

She is survived by two daughters and their families, Judy and Richard Herron of Owosso and Nancy Lyons of Jackson; two sons and their families, Kip and Patrice Roe of Trout Lake and Ron and Michelle Roe of Rudyard; seven grandchildren, Larry Herron, Tim Lyons, Mike Lyons, Emily Roe, Ametta Roe, Kyle Roe, and Kasey Roe, and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Darlene Onsager of Arizona; a brother and his family, Wayne and Alice Gough, also of Arizona, and a brother-inlaw, Glen Roe of Flint.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Roe was preceded in death by her husband, Loy Roe; two grandsons, Brent Herron and Kurt Lyons; two brothers, Dale Gough and Ivan Gough; a sister, Reva Olsen, and a son-in-law, Robert Lyons.

A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, September 16, from 11 a.m. to noon at the Rudyard Presbyterian Church in Rudyard. A memorial service will follow starting at noon.

Interment will be at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens in Bruce Township.
