Volley for a Cure Game Is October 12 in Rudyard

Rudyard High School will host its annual Volley for a Cure volleyball games Thursday, October 12, to raise money for the American Cancer Society. This year’s game will pit the hosting Bulldogs against the visiting Cedarville Trojans. The evening’s junior varsity game will tip off at 6 p.m. with the varsity game following. A number of off-court activities will accompany the game.

“We’ve been doing this for quite a few years,” Rudyard athletic director John Krentz said. “It’s always been a lot of fun and we get a lot of support for a good cause.”

The Bulldogs will be wearing special pink uniforms for the game. Each member of the team went out and got $100 in sponsorship for their uniform, with the name of their sponsor appearing on it. The Trojans will also don special uniforms for the charity game.

The off-court activities will start at 4:30 p.m. and continue throughout the games. The action will include raffles of courtside seat and game ball, 50/50 raffle, a serving contest, and a bake sale. Many prizes will be available. Special pink T-shirts will be on sale during the game. A new feature this year will be a dunk tank offering participants a chance to dunk teachers and other school staff in the name of charity.
