Theodore Hriniak


Theodore Hriniak Theodore Hriniak Theodore Robert Hriniak of Cedarville passed away Thursday, October 19, 2017, in Sault Ste. Marie. He was 81.

He was born November 11, 1935, to Michael and Marion (nee Ward) Hriniak in Sudbury, Massachusetts.

Mr. Hriniak grew up in Sudbury. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served for eight years, first in Germany, and then at Kincheloe Air Force Base. After his service, he stayed in the area and worked at Michigan Limestone in Cedarville.

He married Barbara Erickson Gough November 11, 1974. They made their home in Cedarville, where he worked in construction jobs until retiring in 2010.

Mr. Hriniak was a member of the Les Cheneaux Snowmobile Club and the Law-White VFW Post 7958 in Hessel.

He liked reading Western novels, visiting the casino, boating, and traveling. He enjoyed taking long rides on his snowmobile, which, for many years, could only be a Polaris, until he was eventually convinced to convert to an Arctic Cat, family members said. Mr. Hriniak attended many sporting events in which his grandchildren participated. He loved holiday gatherings with family.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Hriniak; three daughters and their families, Diana and Dale Peterson of Hessel, Linda Santjer of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, and Lori Johnson of Sanger, Texas; a stepdaughter and her family, Sandra and Perry Causley of Lansing; a stepson and his family, Dale and Jodi Gough of Pickford; a stepsonin law, Steve Hancock of Pickford; grandchildren, Brian Moss, Jessica and Jason Kiefer, Laura Jeffreys, Amber and Kenjl Scouton, Tyler Santjer, Logan Santjer, Billy Callaghan, and Erica and Devin Orear; step-grandchildren, Veronica Gough, Kristi Gough, Burton and Allison Gough, Thomas Causley, Bradley and Monique Causley, Tonya and Layne Ingram, and Charlie Hancock; great-grandchildren, Alyssa McCord, Kayden Kiefer, Kaleb Kiefer, Rylee Seabrook, Aiden Jeffreys, Adelynn Jeffreys, Aidrick Jeffreys, Aiken Jeffreys, Asher Jeffreys, Koji Scouton, Asher Scouton, Piper Santjer, Hadley Callaghan, Hayden Callaghan, Dylan Orear, and Keilah Orear; step-great-grandchildren, Bradley Causley, Jr., Elysia Causley, Cassandra Causley, Avery Vandermeer, and Kayla Vandermeer, and a stepgreat great-grandson, Carter Causley. He is also survived by a sister, Arlette Clark of Sudbury.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Hriniak was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Laurie Hancock.

A memorial service will be held Friday, November 3, at 11 a.m. at R. Galer Funeral Home in Pickford. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to time of the service.

Interment will be in Cedar Cemetery in Cedarville at a later date.
