Steel, Matelski Named LaSalle Students of the Month

Annie Steel Annie Steel Annie Steel and Robert Matelski, both seniors at LaSalle High School, have been selected as October Students of the Month by school faculty.

Annie Steel

Annie’s schedule this year includes honors English, anatomy and physiology, civics, calculus, composition I (online), physics, and introduction to sociology (online). She has a grade point average of 3.9 on a 4.0 point scale.

Her favorite subject is introduction to sociology.

Annie names Kelsey Cryderman as her most influential teacher, “because I learned while still having fun days. She was helpful and a good teacher.”

Annie participates in volleyball. She is a member of the National Honor Society and student council. She has received the honor roll distinction many times, as well as multiple classroom awards and sports recognitions.

After high school, she plans to attend Michigan State University, where she will major in psychology.

Robert Matelski Robert Matelski Annie is the daughter of Melissa and Paul Holle and Brian and Mary Steel. She has two sisters, Brooke and Lauren, and one brother, Tyler.

Robert’s schedule this year includes jazz band, English 12, functions, statistics, and trigonometry (FST), French I, MAC percussion, band, mentoring, and independent music study. He has a grade point average of 3.202 on a 4.0 point scale.

His favorite subject is band.

Robert says his most influential teacher is band director Craig Hierholzer, “because he influences me to try my very best.”

He participates in robotics and Quiz Bowl for the Saints.

Some of his activities and accomplishments include being stage director, first chair of the brass section, and captain of the robotics team. He enjoys computer programming and coding, working, and spending time with his friends.

After graduation, he plans to attend Michigan Technological University to study engineering.

He is the son of Paul and Heather Matelski. He has two sisters, Quinn and Alex.
