Saints Peewees Top Cheboygan Chiefs 9-1; Squirts Fall to Soo

St. Ignace’s Peewee hockey team enjoyed a 9-1 victory over Cheboygan at Little Bear East Arena Saturday, November 18.

Carson Bigger had three goals and three assists for the Saints. Brendan Insley had three goals and one assist. Cody Lane had two goals and one assist. Ethan Shepard had one goal and one assist.

After seven games, Bigger has 17 goals and 10 assists, while Insley has 10 goals and 10 points and Cody Lane has four goals and five assists.

The Squirts team lost 17-1 to Soo Bulson Sunday, November 19, and the team is 0-11-1 overall. After 12 games, Dylan Shepard leads the team with nine goals and one assist, while Garrett Martin had two goals and four assists.

Allen Mitchell is the St. Ignace Squirts coach.

“We had four games this weekend and lost all four,” Mitchell said, referring to two games against Soo Bulson and two to Alpena for the Squirts. “We have a young team this year. We have about half the kids that are first year. We’re getting better.”

The squirts are nine and 10 years old.

“They’re improving every practice and every game,” Mitchell said.
