Santa Claus Will Be on His Way to Engadine Sunday

It’s official. This Sunday, December 3, the Jolly Old Elf will make a stop at the Engadine High School Gymnasium as part of the annual Engadine Christmas Bazaar.

The bazaar, the unofficial start of the Christmas season in the area, again will feature vendors, entertainment, and food. The doors will open at noon and the event will last until about 4 p.m.

“At the moment, we have more than 40 vendors signed up,” said bazaar co-chair Kelly Roth. “They will be featuring a wide variety of goods and products, many of which are made here locally. Also, we have the Engadine students coming in and singing. And the Christmas Tuba Band. And, of course, Santa will be visiting with kids of all ages.”

Ms. Roth said photos will available for $5 apiece and there will be a mitten tree, to which attendees may contribute.

“People who are planning on attending are invited to bring donations,” she said. “We are asking for mittens, hats, socks, and other types of winter wear. We are also having a food drive for Love Inc., the local food pantry.”

Mr. Roth said organizers are asking for non-perishable food items, such as canned goods, as well as such practical items as toothpaste, paper goods, and shampoo.

“A lot of times, people who donate forget how much it means to someone just to have shampoo, to be able to wash their hair,” she said.

The family-oriented celebration, for the entire community, has been a focal point of the Christmas season for as long as many residents can recall.

“There will be a lot of Christmas fun and merriment, something for everyone,” Ms. Roth promised. “So, we invite all to come out and join us, visit the vendors, and finish your Christmas shopping. Bring the little ones to see Santa, or just come out and enjoy the company of your friends, family, and neighbors. Everyone is welcome.”
