Toys and Donations Collected Until Dec. 7

The Mackinac County Children’s Toy Drive is accepting donations for Christmas distribution. New, unwrapped toys and gifts for children may be dropped off in collection boxes at the following locations: The St. Ignace News, all First National Bank locations, Central Savings Bank, U.P. State Credit Union, Gold Mine, B-M-L Diner, True Value, Ace Hardware, Family Fare, Dollar General, State Police Post, and Family Dollar. Canisters for collecting cash donations for the program are also placed at various locations. Toy drive donors may also contact organizer Wendy Colegrove at (906) 643-7456.

The donation boxes will be picked up Thursday, December 7, with distribution to be Saturday, December 9, for enrolled recipients in the program.

Also December 9, Christmas food baskets will be packed and distributed to enrolled families by community volunteers. Monetary donations are being accepted to support the food basket program coordinated with support by the St. Ignace Kiwanis Club. Donations to fund Christmas food baskets for needy families may be mailed to the Kiwanis Club in care of Janet Peterson at 560 North State Street, St. Ignace, MI 49781. The baskets include a turkey, potatoes, and various vegetables and ingredients for side dishes to make a Christmas meal.
