Mackinac County Sheriff’s Office Weekly Activity Report

For the week of November 27 through December 3, the following activity was reported by the Mackinac County Sheriff’s Office:

• Deputies responded to 10 property damage crashes, seven involving car and deer. None of the accidents resulted in life-threatening injuries.

• Deputies investigated a breaking and entering complaint at a business in Hudson Township. A sum of several thousand dollars was reported stolen by the owner. The incident is still under investigation.

• Deputies issued six citations for traffic offenses.

• Deputies stopped a vehicle on US-2 in Moran Township that left the scene of an accident in Schoolcraft County. The driver was subsequently arrested for operating while intoxicated, and also for possession of marijuana.

• Deputies assisted the Brevort Township Fire Department with a fully engulfed structure fire of a cabin near Brevort Lake. The cabin was a summer residence, and was unoccupied. Two other buildings on the property were intact. The cabin was a total loss.

• Deputies stopped to check a vehicle on M-134 in Marquette Township with its hazard lights on. Deputies suspected the vehicle was involved in an accident. Deputies observed open intoxicants in the vehicle and the driver was subsequently arrested for operating while intoxicated.

• Thirteen people were booked into the Mackinac County Jail.
