Panthers Girls Take Two Wins On Court

Pickford has started off 2-0 in girls basketball action after two home games last week.

“We’re looking strong,” Pickford Coach Greg Wright said. “We beat a very good Posen team.”

The 44-39 win over Posen came Thursday, November 30. Senior Taylor Opolka scored 28 points. She scored 13-of-18 in free throws, hit one three-pointer, and netted six field goals, Tori Thurmes had shot eight points, and Opolka had 10 rebounds and 11 steals.

The season opened with a 59-32 win over Indian River Inland Lakes Tuesday, November 28. Pickford led 30-10 at halftime. Darcy Bennin scored 18 points, Opolka had 15 points, and Thurmes had three three-pointers and 11 total points.

The Pickford Panthers will compete at Harbor Springs Friday, December 8, and at St. Ignace Wednesday, December 13.
