St. Ignace Squirts Look for First Hockey Win

The St. Ignace Squirts hockey team continues to look for that first win after falling to 0-15-1 overall over the past weekend, Saturday, December 2 and Sunday, December 3. Coach Allen Mitchell remains impressed, however with his team’s progress.

The team hosted the Bridge Brawl tournament this weekend and went 0-4. A Marquette team won the championship. St. Ignace also lost to a team from the Grand Rapids Area Hockey Association and to a Canadian team. St. Ignace lost to the Bay County Blizzard Sunday morning.

“The team is still making strides,” Mitchell said. “We’ve come along each game, little by little.”

After six games for the St. Ignace squirts, Dylan Shepard had 12 goals and two assists, while Garrett Martin had five goals and four assists.

The Midget team is 5-0. Lane Matson leads the team with seven goals and six assists after seven games. Hunter Dekeyser had seven goals and three assists after eight games.

The St. Ignace Peewee team is 6- 3-1. Carson Bigger has 35 goals and 18 assists after 19 games, while Brendan Insley has 20 goals and 14 assists and Jake Danielson has five goals and 15 assists.
