Robert ‘Chris’ Roy


Robert Roy Robert Roy Robert Aaron “Chris” Roy, 52, of Rudyard, died Friday, December 8, 2017, from injuries he sustained in an automobile accident in Pickford Township.

He was born February 16, 1965, to Richard and Mabel (nee De- Bassige) Roy in Chicago, Illinois.

Mr. Roy grew up in Chicago, near Wrigley Field. He was graduated from Lakeview High School in 1983. Following high school, he worked as a cable installer, and then worked for most of his career doing concrete work as a municipal employee for the City of Chicago.

He loved to work on machines and cars. He and his brother attended Indy 500 races every year for many years after. He had a passion for cars, and he spent countless hours working on them and also modifying and upgrading them. Mr. Roy was handy with everything. He worked as a carpenter and built some furniture. He had a big heart, and he was always lending a helping hand to friends and neighbors.

He was a member of the Ojibway M’Chigeeng Tribe of West Bay, Ontario. While living in Chicago, he was a member of the Chicago Laborer’s Union Local 76.

In 2011, he moved to M-48 between Rudyard and Pickford to stay with his parents and help them.

He is survived by his parents; two brothers and their families, Richard and Georgiann Roy of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, and Dale Roy of Chicago; a niece, Amanda Hall; a nephew, Nicholas Roy; a great-nephew, Dominick, and many cousins.

Mr. Roy was preceded in death by all of his grandparents.

A memorial service will be held Monday, December 18, at 10 a.m. at R. Galer Funeral Home in Pickford with Father John Hascall officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to time of the service.
